Brother HL 3075CW Review

Overview

In an attempt to save money, individuals and businesses alike have turned to purchasing their own printing equipment instead of relying on expensive printing shops to do the work for them.  In the past, you might have expected to pay thousands of dollars for a printer able to produce quality color documents but now the price has gone down so much that you can get your own for an extremely reasonable price.  In fact, you can get one for around $200!  The Brother HL-3075CW LED color printer is a good example of a good quality printer at a very reasonable price.

Pros

The Brother HL-3075CW LED color printer is very easy to set up and is compatible with Any Windows, Mac OS, or Linux machine.   With a printer this easy to set up, people with multiple devices running different operating systems will be saved from the trouble of figuring out how to install the printer on each one.  In addition to its easy setup, the HL3075 comes ready to communicate wirelessly.  What’s really nice about the 3075CW is that it comes straight out of the box with wireless network access capability.   One-push wireless configuration is also an option for routers that support the option.  Those wanting to physically connect the printer to their computer can also do so as the printer comes equipped with a 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet port.  You can even download an app for your mobile device that enables you to print documents from your phone.  In addition to its versatility, the HL3075 is pretty darn fast with a maximum printing speed of up to 19 pages per minute in both color and in black and white.  If you are in a hurry you can count on this printer to come through with flying colors.

Cons

The Brother HL-3075CW color LED printer does have a few faults though.  First and foremost is the printer’s lackluster performance when printing photographs.  Photos come out looking grainy and colors appear darker than they should.  In addition to photo quality issues, the HL3075CW only ships with toner cartridges half-filled.  Maximizing profits is one thing but this is a pretty cheap thing to do for any company.  Users will find that they don’t save as much money after all when they end up having to replace toner cartridges sooner than expected.  Lastly, some users have complained of excessive warm up times, which can be frustrating for those needing to have their documents ready in a hurry.

Dell 3115cn Printer Review

Overview

The Dell 3115cn is an amazing printer with many great features. These features include high quality printing, high speed printing and faxing and works with networking. If you need to get the job done fast and right, this 4-in-1 printer is perfect. With a great design that is robust and energetic, this printer has an increased monthly duty cycle. Because of this, you can print high quality prints at an increased rate to get the job done right.

Pros

The Dell 3115cn is a really fast printer that is able to create black and white prints at 31 pages per minute with a resolution of 600 by 600 DPI.

You can easily copy and scan multiple prints with the Dell 3115cn. The reason for this is because it comes with a document feeder that can allow for 50 pages. Since it has such a big document feeder, no more feeding the printer with paper over and over again.

With the optional auto-duplexing feature, you are able to print both sides of the page easily. With this feature, you can easily cut down on costs when printing booklets and other printing materials. This decreases costs and helps the environment as well because it decreases printing space.

The Dell 3115cn can produce high quality prints and scans since the scanner is a high quality color scanner. Since it works with a network., you can easily scan to the computer or save to the computer.

You can also scan and archive office documents because this printer comes enabled with bundled software with powerful tools.

You can also use it as a fax machine and send faxes right from your computer. This printer allows you to fax from your email as well. You do not even have to sit at the computer while faxing. You can set it to do it automatically and go off and do other tasks.

Since it is network enabled, you can create 50 extra user accounts because it has a color track control tool. There are other features including being able to set limits for black and white prints and color prints, setting printing permissions for individuals as well as workgroups and being able to use a tool to track user information and usage. This can all be done remotely.

The MFP is flexible and can be upgraded many different ways. A wireless printer can also be installed to work with a laptop that is WI-FI compatible. You can also add a 550 paper feeder to increase the paper feeder to 950 sheets. This increase in the paper feeder is great for high volume printing jobs. For large printing jobs, the memory can be increased from 128 MB to 1152 MB. Another great thing about this is being able to work with large scanning jobs such as brochures, catalogs and other marketing resources.

Cons

The Dell 3115cn is really difficult to set up. The manual does not help like it should because it is not clear on many things. For the set-up, you will also need technical knowledge as well as some knowledge of TCI/IP.

The LCD display is a little hard to read and the commands have to be entered in as plain text.

This printer is not for you if you need your office up and running fast and efficiently. This is because the auto-duplexing feature does not come free with the printer and is only an optional upgrade.

The design is not that great and is a little clunky. The automatic paper feeder will also jam up often. Using this printer will make you waste 10% of the paper because the printer runs hot and the paper feeder jams up frequently. Because of this, the print and scan quality comes out poor.

Although with the auto-duplexing feature you should be saving paper and time since it is supposed to print on both sides, it is usually impossible to do this because of the automatic paper feeder.

Review of the Copystar CS 1820

Overview:

The Copystar CS-1820, a multifunctional printer, is equipped with print, scan, copy and the   capacity to fax. This printer is compact and potent meant for small offices that do not need a printer for mass printing needs.

Pros:

For a multifunctional printer the CS-1820 provides extraordinary speeds when it comes to output; for letter paper it prints at 18 ppm, and for legal paper it prints at 15 ppm. When it comes to the copy and printing speeds the same response is expected. When it comes to initial copy results it clocks in at 9.5 seconds or less. For initial print results it is even more remarkable as it clocks in at 8 seconds. When it comes to resolution the Copystar CS-1820 is exciting. It has a standard resolution of 600 x 600 dpi and 256 levels. When combined with Fast 1200 mode the resolution increases to 1800 x 600 dpi, and with KIR it reaches a resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi. These impressive resolutions are due to its customary 96MB of memory which when a 100 Pin DIMMS slot is integrated into it the memory increases to 320MB. When you perform the upgrade it allows the printer to handle the increased resolutions without issue along with other features and capabilities of the printer. To help produce jobs that need to be adapted via magnification this printer has an automatic magnification that is full size. It has the ability to zoom in 1% increments from 50% to 200%.

The Copystar CS-1820 has the ability to handle imaging for text and photo products; it accomplishes this using automated and manual exposure controls. This printer also comes equipped with an ECO function which saves on toner and power usage lowering production costs. The CS-1820 can copy uninterrupted up to 999 copies, and then can be reset automatically back to 1 copy. In addition it comes with other options for copying including; paper select, copy priority, 8 job plans, electronic sorting and a job cache.

This printer uses an implanted controller that has a PowerPC 750 processor with a whopping 300MHz, and the RAM is shared by all the various functions. Network capable it will support the following protocols; TCP/IP, AppleTalk, and NETBEUI. When scanning in color you can choose resolutions from 200 to 600 dpi in increments of 100 dpi with the exception of 500 dpi. Scan production speeds are reasonable with monochrome speeds of 18 ppm and color speeds of 5 ppm. Fax capabilities are optional to include network faxing. Fax capabilities come with a G3 modem working at a speed of 33 Kbps. When transmitting it takes about 3 seconds per page, and the quick scan ability works in less than 2.5 seconds.

Equipped with a 50 sheet multipurpose tray for media and a standard 250 sheet paper tray; the CS-1820 can come with an additional 250 sheet paper tray option. Also included is a document feeder for 50 sheets of paper that feeds automatically for up to 18 genuine papers per minute and processes paper with a weight of 13 to 32 lbs.

Cons:
With limited capabilities when it comes to volume, the condensed size of the Copystar CS-1820 may hinder it. If an office requires a multifunctional printer that can process high levels of output then it is not nearly big enough as it only measures 19.5 x 16.6 x 17.9 inches.
